The Board of Directors of Brown & Brown, Inc. (NYSE: BRO) today announced that Nick Dereszynski, CEBS, CIC, has been elected Regional Vice President of the Company. Mr. Dereszynski will relocate from Syracuse, New York, where he has served as Profit Center Leader for the past six years and has overseen certain other retail offices in the State of New York, to Seattle, Washington, where he will assume responsibility for the oversight of all Brown & Brown retail operations in the State of Washington. Mr. Dereszynski will report to J. Scott Penny, Regional President and Chief Acquisitions Officer.

Nick joined Brown & Brown in 1993 in the Fort Myers, Florida office, as a property and casualty/employee benefits producer and was elevated to the position of Benefits Team Leader before his promotion to the position of Profit Center Leader in Naples, Florida in 1998, and his subsequent move to lead the Sarasota, Florida retail office from 2002 to 2005. In 2005, he assumed responsibility for the Syracuse, New York retail office, where he serves as President of Brown & Brown Empire State, a division of Brown & Brown of New York, Inc.
Nick currently chairs the Boards of Directors of Leadership Greater Syracuse and Syracuse Tomorrow. He serves as a Director of Syracuse 20/20 and the CenterState CEO, a Director and past Chairman of the American Heart Association, and was a 2007 recipient of The Greater Syracuse "40 Under 40" Award. He is also a member of several Producer Councils sponsored by insurance carriers.
Nick holds the designations of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist and Certified Insurance Counselor. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he was named to membership in the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society and was a landmark initiate of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, and where he earned a degree in Finance. He was a member of the Georgia Southern I-AA National Championship Football team in 1989 and 1990.
